DC Superior Court Authorized Officiant

Rev. Starlene Joyner Burns is a Nondenominational minister, who supports marriage equality for all.  She is also the founder and director of SJB Ministries LLC.  And after four consecutive years of ministerial study at the National Spiritual Science Center in Washington DC (and as part of her program), she received her ordination.

In June 2004, she was authorized by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to solemnize marriages.  And she has presided over more than 450 weddings since her career began (with more than 35 of those for same sex couples who had commitment ceremonies and now marriages).

She is compassionate, ethical, and  professional, and she will work hard with you to ensure that your wedding in DC is memorable.   Rev. Burns feels that she is an expert in same sex weddings.  With proof of experience and a commitment to excellence, she is leading the way.  Rev. Burns uses her experience in providing helpful wedding tips and recommending reliable professionals who will stand behind their product.

In addition, Rev. Burns will perform your elopement or wedding at any attractive venue in DC.  Some of these places includes DC's historical sites, buildings, churches, hotels, inns, and parks.

Keep in mind that an elopement at one of DC sites is the best alternative to a courthouse wedding.  They remove the scrutiny and energy of a courthouse marriage.  Walking thru the DC  courthouse metal detector to get your marriage license may be a requirement.  However, returning there to have your ceremony officiated in a building that is replete with negative energy and by a justice of the peace, is a choice.

So consider the sanctity of your marriage and start it out by bringing the right energy into it, elope in DC.  Rev. Burns is not a DC justice of the peace nor a judge, so she will bring a spiritual element into your religious, spiritual, or civil ceremony.

Upon booking your wedding with me, you will receive a free ceremony workbook with sample ceremonies, rituals, and readings.  In addition, you will receive a personalized draft ceremony, a pre-wedding questionnaire, tips, a list of recommended vendors, keepsake ceremony and a keepsake marriage certificate (with your vows on it).

The above fees are based on writing and revising the ceremony, traveling to and from the wedding site, rehearsal attendance, wedding party direction and coordination (if needed), my time corresponding with you, officiating the ceremony, filing the marriage license, advertising cost, other logistics, and (if applicable) a holiday wedding fee ($60 is added to the base cost).

You may reserve your wedding date and time with a $100 nonrefundable cash deposit (subtracted from total cost).  This payment can also be made by mail with a check or money order.  I normally collect this fee at the conclusion of our first meeting (in person, over the phone, or via Skype).  The balance is due 60 days before the ceremony or an agreed upon time.
